Mary Quant

- 1934 Born on February 11th in Blackheath, Great Britain.
- 1952-55 Studies at the Goldsmith’s College of Art, London.
- 1955 Togther with her husband opens a small boutique Bazaar, on King’s Road, London
- 1959 Opens a second Bazaar boutique in Knightsbridge; designs very short childlike dresses.
- 1963 Breaks through with the invention of the miniskirt; Lolita and Schoolgirl look. Also the Wet collection with raincoats and low heeled PVC boots. Introduces shoulder bags with long straps as an alternative to handbags.
- 1965 Begins designing nylon stockings.
- 1966 Introduces cosmetics series for teenagers. Awarded the Order of the British Empire.
- 1974 Havoc perfume is released.
- 1976- 2007Retires from running her own company and continues to work freelance designsfor various companies.
